The degree may be less recognisable and people may not give it that much respect compared to a degree which you have got from a physical university. Then there are also many bad eggs which give online degrees a bad name. These fake online universities peddle degrees that carry no value but serve to get people a false impression that these people have studied widely and obtained a post graduate degree. 

So is the doctor of education degree something you need? I hope so.
